You may register for the Running for Answers 5K online here or in person on race day morning (9/22) prior to the start of the race. Please note that the 5K registration fee increases by $5 on race day.

Patients and Caregivers
In lieu of a registration fee, patients are required to raise $300 per person. Raising this amount provides that patient with 5K Run and Walk registration and a seat at the Patient Meeting on 9/21.

» Directions and Parking
Please note that you will NOT be allowed to turn onto Avenue of the Republic east of Belmont (the road will be blocked for the race).
There is plenty of street parking around the Please Touch Museum. Arrive early for best spots! Street parking will be available along Parkside Ave, S Concourse St (west of Belmont ONLY) and Avenue of the Republic (west of Belmont Ave ONLY). There is no lot parking available.
» The Race Course
The RFA events will start and finish in front of the Please Touch Museum. This year's race features a scenic route through the breathtaking Japanese Gardens of Fairmount Park. Runners and walkers will get a chance to traverse the very route used for iconic Philadelphia events such as the Philadelphia Marathon or the Philadelphia Triathlon. Don't get too distracted by touch football leagues put on by the Philadelphia Sports and Social Club playing along the end stretch of the race route.
» Kids' Fun Run
Time to let those little ones loose and burn off some of the energy. We have lots of fun activities for our little ones on race day, Sunday, September 22!
We'll have a short and very exciting race to kick off Running For Answers 5K! This 1⁄2 Mile Kids’ Fun Run benefits the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.
Theme: Superheroes!
Cost: $15 per child (12 & under)
Time: 8am
» Yoga Details
There will be one (1) hour of gentle flow yoga in front of the Please Touch Museum from 9:30-10:30am.
This will be a great way to soak up the moment (and music!) after the race. Participants are welcome to come and go as they please during this hour.
Remember to bring your yoga mat, and if you would like to drop your mat before your run/walk, put it behind our stage. DISCLAIMER: We cannot take responsibility for personal items.
» How Do I Get My FREE Cheesesteaks & Ice Cream?

There will be 3 food trucks: 2 trucks for cheesesteaks/ chicken cheesesteaks (we even have a vegan option!), 1 truck for ice cream. Each RFA participant will receive 2 tickets (one pink/red and one yellow) attached to his/ her bib. He/ she will be able to get one (1) sandwich (pink/red ticket) and one (1) ice cream cone (yellow ticket).

After your 5K run/ walk, get in line for either ice cream or sandwich.

Upon approaching the food truck, remove your ticket from your bib and hand it to the vendor. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES remove these until you redeem them. Replacement tickets will NOT be provided. Cash is not accepted at these trucks; only meal tickets are accepted. Please stress this to your team.

Craziest Socks Awards - Individuals with the most creative and crazy socks worn on race day.

RFA 5K Award - Top 3 male and female runners based on their time in the 5K race.

2019 Jeanienne Palmer Memorial Award for Top Female Patient Finisher - Desmoid female patient with the best time in the 5K race.

2019 Spencer Black Memorial Award for Top Male Patient Finisher - Desmoid male patient with the best time in the 5K race.

5K age group awards - Top M/F in each of the following age categories: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

» Rules and Regulations

Headphones are permitted.

Awards are based on chip time.

Your race number must be pinned to the FRONT of your shirt. We will not be able to record your time without a race number clearly visible to finish line personnel.

Only validly entered runners may participate. Each runner must wear a bib that reflects his/ her correct name, age, and sex.

Children 12 and under can compete in either the Kids' Fun Run or the 5K.

Jogging strollers & pets on leashes welcome! All will begin behind runners in the 5K race.

Unofficial wheeled vehicles (bikes, skates, skateboards, roller blades, etc...) are not permitted on the course.

The Race Director reserves the right to cancel or modify the race in consideration of extremely adverse weather conditions, or other health or safety factors that pose an imminent threat to competitors or volunteers.

The Race Director reserves the right to disqualify any individual who does not comply with these rules.
